Based in the South West corner of Surrey, three miles from the county town of Guildford, the Godalming Band has been in existence in its current form since 1937 and boasts both an active Senior and Youth band. The membership is a cross section of people, of all ages living in the local community.
Thanks to the generosity of the people of Godalming and the surrounding area, the band has remained a self-supporting organisation, raising our own funds for the instruments, music and uniforms we require through regular public performances in and around the Godalming area, at a variety of venues including concert halls, bandstands, outdoor concerts and a selection of local shows and fetes. The band also take a pride in fundraising for local good causes, recent concerts have been held for Citizens Advice Waverley.
Under their current Musical Director, James Haigh, the band have given many outstanding concerts and perform in both the National Brass Championships (L&SC fourth section) and the scaba regional contests. With director David Loftus MBE, Godalming Youth Band play at local events, join in hosting our concerts and perform in the Godalming Music Festival.
